4D Volumetric Version of Original Musical EQUAL on February 15!

MetaTheater (http://MetaTheater.live), a platform that globally distributes live theater performances, will be providing the live streaming of a 4D volumetric version of the original musical EQUAL (produced by SHINSWAVE) on the 15th. It’s a challenging initiative rare to come across in the musical industry all around the world, and it will allow EQUAL to overcome the limits of expression in the realm of performing arts.
2PM’s JUN. K, NU'EST’s BAEKHO, Golden Child’s Hong Joo Chan, and musical actors Kim Kyung Rok and Jung Jae Hwan are the lead cast of EQUAL, an original 2-person musical made by Korea’s top creators. Set in the 17th Century Europe ailing with Black Death and witch hunts, the story depicts desperate desires and twisted fates faced by two friends, Nicola, the sick and isolated, and Theo, a village doctor who is devoted to cure Nicola.
EQUAL the musical has been receiving positive reviews through the word of mouth for its heavy subject matter and originality as it continues its run. During the January 10th show with JUN. K, BAEKHO, and Hong Joo Chan, a 4D volumetric video was recorded. The volumetric technology is a type of an XR (extended reality) technology in which the subject is shot with dozens of cameras from all 360 degrees. These shots are then combined to create a 4-dimensional video. This is the first time in Korea the technology was used for a live streaming of a musical. The volumetric and XR technology will be applied to the number “Lies of Lies of Lies” among several other scenes throughout the February 15th performance of EQUAL, and it’ll be made available to 154 countries and regions around the world via the performance-focused streaming platform MetaTheater(http://MetaTheater.live), CGV Korea, and GH Cinema chain (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore).
In addition, MetaTheater will also begin providing the Opera Glass service starting on the 12th. Opera Glass, which will soon become MetaTheater’s exclusive service, allows viewers to follow the trajectory of one of the protagonists like a focus camera. Viewers watching a live streaming of EQUAL can additionally choose and watch Theo or Nicola through the Opera Glass, privilaged service with a charge. SYNOPSIS
In 17th century Europe, a rural village is ailing with Black Death and witch hunts.
Theo and Nicola have been best friends ever since they were children,
and they live together in a small cabin. Diagnosed with an unknown and incurable disease, Nicola is locked inside the house, while Theo is a doctor who works at the village hospital, struggling to cure his sick friend. One day, Theo finds an alchemy book at the town’s antique store and becomes hopeful he can cure Nicola’s disease with the mysterious ancient teachings. But as Nicola’s death approaches, the two friends start to behave in bizarre ways and are soon engulfed by a strange madness...
