A challenging original musical EQUAL (produced by SHINSWAVE) that exceeds the limits of expression in the realm of performing arts has been streaming live to 154 countries and regions to much positive response.
2PM’s JUN. K, NU'EST’s BAEKHO, Golden Child’s Hong Joo Chan, and rising musical actors Kim Kyung Rok and Jung Jae Hwan are the lead cast of this musical which is based on an original Japanese play of the same title. This highly anticipated project was put together by renowned creators in the Korean musical industry. Set in 17th Century Europe, the story depicts the desperate desires and twisted fates faced by two friends, Nicola and Theo.
EQUAL the musical gained a lot of high anticipation as it brought together K-POP artists with a K-musical that is not only artistic but embodies a heavy theme. It has been streaming live to 154 countries and regions starting on the 21st via MetaTheater(http://MetaTheater.live), an online platform that distributes live theater performances. EQUAL the musical is being serviced with English and Japanese subtitles, as well as without any subtitles. The number of live streaming viewers have been the highest in Korea, followed by Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, then Indonesia, while it is receiving rave reviews as it continues its run.
In the hopes to allow more countries and regions to enjoy K-POP and K-musicals through the musical EQUAL, MetaTheater decided to service Chinese and Spanish subtitles from February 5 to 13. During this time, MetaTheater will continue to provide English and Japanese subtitles. Chinese subtitles will be available for five shows happening on February 8, 9, 11, 13, and 19. Spanish subtitles will be available for three shows happening on February 5, 12, and 13. SYNOPSIS
In 17th century Europe, a rural village is ailing with Black Death and witch hunts.
Theo and Nicola have been best friends ever since they were children,
and they live together in a small cabin. Diagnosed with an unknown and incurable disease, Nicola is locked inside the house, while Theo is a doctor who works at the village hospital, struggling to cure his sick friend. One day, Theo finds an alchemy book at the town’s antique store and becomes hopeful he can cure Nicola’s disease with the mysterious ancient teachings. But as Nicola’s death approaches, the two friends start to behave in bizarre ways and are soon engulfed by a strange madness...
