With the world becoming more enthusiastic for K-contents, Broadway
musical Altar Boyz
starring K-pop stars is drawing the attention of many global fans.
Super Junior’s EUNHYUK will take charge of stage direction, while
NU'EST’s BAEKHO, Astro’s YOON SAN HA, SF9’s YOO TAE YANG, and Golden
Child’s Y and HONG JOO CHAN will star as co-leads in this musical. The
performance will not only be streamed live online through the
professional global platform MetaTheater(https://metatheater.live),
but it will also be available for remote live viewings at global
theater chains in the Asian region amounting to 10,000 seats.
Altar Boyz
the musical is a concert-style musical about 5 young boys who form a
dance vocal group. Through their singing and dancing, they spread love
and save souls. Written by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker with a
book by Kevin Del Aguila, the show sends up the boy-band craze while
playing for more than 2,000 performances off-broadway since 2004. It
has continuously received explosive responses from global fans due to
the previous cast which included Super Junior’s Yesung, 2PM’s Chansung,
Highlight’s Son Dong-woon, and Infinite’s Jang Dong-woo among many
other top K-pop idols.
From Saturday, December 18 to Friday, December 24, Altar Boyz will be
performing at KBS Arena Hall in Seoul. EUNHYUK, who is a member of
Super Junior, is also a talented and charming entertainer and show host
who took charge of the theater direction. It’s the first time for a
K-pop musician to direct a Broadway musical. In addition, globally
loved leading K-pop idols like NU'EST’s BAEKHO, Astro’s YOON SAN HA,
SF9’s YOO TAE YANG, and Golden Child’s Y and HONG JOO CHAN will perform
as co-leads. In Altar Boyz, BAEKHO will play Matthew, San-ha will play
Abraham, Tae-yang will play Juan, Y will play Luke, and Joo-chan will
play Mark.
In addition, choreographer Mihawk Back and Bart Lee, music director Jay
Kim, and talented K-musical producers will join hands for the project.
Since Shinswave and DREAM MAKER ENTERTAINMENT LIMITED are co-producers,
many have high expectations and anticipate a very polished show. Global
fans are looking forward to the musical especially because the show
will be performed like a concert at a hall instead of a theater, not to
mention the strong script and music which are bound to produce a
blockbuster-quality show.
All offline shows of Altar
Boyz the musical held between December 18 to December 24
will be streamed live via the performance-focused global platform,
MetaTheater. Remote live viewings (live broadcast) of two shows on the
18th and the 24th will be made available through the global theater
chains CGV and Orange Sky Golden Harvest to meet with the audience.
MetaTheater serves regions such as the middle east, Oceana and Asia,
and you can purchase a ticket on the homepage after signing up in order
to watch the online streaming of the Korean performance live. The
remote live viewings will take place at 12 CGV theaters all over the
region of Indonesia, while in Hong Kong and Taiwan, they will be
available through the theater chain Orange Sky Golden Harvest.
The global streaming of the musical Altar Boyz is
expected to provide an immersive audiovisual experience to global fans
who cannot attend the Korean performance in person due to the spread of
the COVID-19 variant, Omicron. Detailed information about how you can
